A little tired of Wonderland, Alice takes a trip to Greece. She jumps aboard a boat named Kymo, and with her trusty Greek skipper Vasko, sails her tears which lead into the Aegean Sea and the Cyclades Islands.
Alice trades in her golden locks for a Medusa-like 'do and converts her familiar frock into goddess garb. At Mikonos, she picks up the Mad Hatter who had been busy celebrating unbirthdays to get free drinks. The Cheshire Cat even makes an appearance to enjoy the beautiful skies near the temple of Poseidon. Meanwhile, the Queen of Hearts hears of the expedition and rides furiously in The Dingy ("din-jee") to catch up with them. Alice spots a dolphin and marvels at the great friends she has made. Wonderland is great, she muses, but Greece is even better. -------------------------- Watercolour and ink, Greece, 2005. Actually, the cheshire cat was one of my favourite parts of this drawing. I couldn't decide between the caterpillar, the cat, or the white rabbit... i am extremely happy with my choice. He made me giggle.
